15th President of the Republic of the Philippines

[ 2010 – 2016 ]

– President Benigno S. Aquino III
June 2010

The late and former President Benigno S. Aquino III was the only son of former President Corazon C. Aquino and Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. The scion from the powerful Cojuangco clan from Tarlac,  spent 16 years of his life at the Ateneo de Manila University. He was best known for his candid ways and would often speak his mind whether he was facing the press or a few of his friends. While those who served him at Malacañang Palace will say that he was never seen without a cigarette and a bottle of Coca-Cola, his closest peers remember him as an audiophile, a car enthusiast and a stellar marksman. He was an undeniable sharpshooter and was even crowned champion in the first Speaker Jose de Venecia Cup Shooting Competition, which was held at the Armscor range in Marikina City in 2003.

It is no surprise then, that running the length of this room is a dominant shade of blue, a tip of the hat to his alma mater.

Easily, your attention is grabbed by the impactful works of art that cover the former president’s two passions : public service and target shooting.

Bespoke beddings with a “Barong Tagalog” pattern are a nod to his presidency. PNoy, as he was fondly called during his time as president, listened to all genres of music ranging from Original Pilipino Music (OPM) to disco, trance and house. His favorite local artists include Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, APO Hiking Society, Noel Cabangon, Jose Mari Chan and Mitch Valdez. Hence, an audio-inspired wardrobe closet and a monogrammed pillow complete the room’s signature touch. All of these combined elements are a mindful nod to the man and not just the president. Until this day, he is still the only bachelor to hold the highest post in the Philippines.
